Paul de Froment

Paul de Froment (born February 19, 1664 in Uzès , † February 12, 1737 in Neuchâtel ) was a Prussian colonel and governor of the Principality of Neuchâtel .

Life

De Froment came from a Protestant family from Languedoc . His father Denis de Froment was consul of Uzès and his mother Marguerite d'Accaurat . He fled France before the edict of Fontainebleau was promulgated in 1683. In Berlin he entered the service of Crown Prince Friedrich , who later became King of Prussia. With the Prussian army he took part in numerous wars. He was able to distinguish himself in the Battle of Turin in 1706 and became a knight of the Order de la Générosité . In April 1720 he was appointed governor of the Prussian principality of Neuchâtel and successor to François de Langes . He remained inconspicuous in this office until his death in 1737.

On January 29, 1700 he married Marie Godeffroy (1674–1737) from La Rochelle in Berlin . The couple had several children:
