Panzerfaust is a black metal band from Mississauga , Ontario , Canada formed in 2005 .

history

Panzerfaust was founded in Mississauga , Ontario in 2005 and consists of singer Goliath, guitarist Kaizer, bassist Morbid and drummer Lord Baphomet.

So far the band has released four albums: The Winds Will Lead Us ... was released one year after the group was founded. The Dark Age of Militant Paganism followed in 2008.

In December 2010, Panzerfaust opened for Watain in Toronto , Ontario . In May and June 2011, Panzerfaust was the opening act for Marduk on their tour of Canada and the USA.

In 2013 her fourth studio album, Jehovah-Jireh: The Divine Anti-Logos , was released, which was produced and mastered by Marduk bassist Devo Andersson . In addition, Panzerfaust took part in the Wacken Metal Battle in Canada. However, Crimson Shadows won the competition and flew to the international final at Wacken Open Air . The group was previously seen in the opening act for Einherjer in Canada .

The group toured the United States in May and June 2014 supporting Abigail Williams .

Panzerfaust got a lot of attention when the musicians urinated and posted a photo just outside the Westboro Baptist Church .

Music style and lyrics

Chris “Cheese Dog” Krovatin from Revolver magazine describes Panzerfaust as raw and acidic with “thrashing anger and morbid chugging”. According to Skullbanger's skullbone76 , the band sounds like they come from Sweden. Her style is more atmospheric than brutal, but Jehovah-Jireh: The Divine Anti-Logos has both tendencies. He compared the music to Marduk and Gorgoroth , but Panzerfaust sounds like a band that has created something new. According to Bato from the webzine Metal Revolution , the music sounds like the Scandinavian, especially the Norwegian, scene with very few Canadian references.

The band's name was chosen because of the guitarist and drummer's keen interest in military and war history . Accordingly, the early material was largely shaped by relevant topics. The band's name led to accusations of belonging to the NSBM environment, which Kaizer described as nonsense. With Ephphatha , the band evolved into a more philosophical , metaphysical , orthodox approach in lyrical terms . The name of the album refers to the Aramaic word Effata , which occurs in the Gospel according to Mark . The title of the fourth album, Jehovah-Jireh: The Divine Anti-Logos , refers to the passage in Genesis dedicated to the sacrifice of Isaac . According to Kaizer, the lyrics are just as important to the music as the instrumentation.
