Papyrus 122 (named after Gregory-Aland with Sigel 122 ) is an early Greek copy of the New Testament . These are fragments of a papyrus manuscript from the Gospel of John .

description

To this day, only two fragments of a leaf have survived. The remaining text by John includes parts of verses 21: 11-14 and 22-24. It was dated to the 4th or 5th century by means of paleography . The manuscript is written very irregularly.

The text contains noun sacra . The name Ιησους (Jesus) is abbreviated as ΙΗΣ (most manuscripts use the abbreviation ΙΣ ). The number “one hundred and fifty- three ” is abbreviated as ΡΝΓ .

The Greek text probably represents the Alexandrian text type .

text

In John 21:14 the word Ιησους (Jesus) is omitted, as in the Codex Washingtonianus , but the rest of the manuscript contains the word, mostly in conjunction with an article (ο Ιησους).
