Paragliding Grand Prix

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Paragliding Grand Prix ( PGGP ) is a competition for paraglider pilots who compete in teams and use cross-country flying techniques.

Part of the concept is to organize events in a setting that is attractive for spectators, sponsors and the mass media, which are close to the audience, largely independent of the weather and easy to market . Several different competitions in different classes are held on a weekend . The individual tasks (techniques to be used) are always fully in view of the audience at the landing site.

Classes

The classes are based on the classifications of the paragliders according to DHV classification. This should also increase the proximity of the competition to popular sport.

Accordingly, the aircraft of classes "1-2" and "2-3" must be serial devices and may only be replaced during the competition if the previously checked and "sealed" device becomes unable to fly.

Competition disciplines

All disciplines can also be held in the knockout system .

Race
The goal must be achieved as quickly as possible. Take-off is from the ground or from a waiting position in the air. Turning points and / or touch-and-gos can be built in as obstacles .
sprint
Like the race , but over a shorter distance
X-Climb
Like the race , but with a high and a low turning point. These turning points can be avoided several times.
