The Parang La is a high mountain pass in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh .
An 8-day trekking route leads over the Parang La from the hospital south of Kaza to the upper reaches of the Parechu and on to Lake Tsomoriri in Ladakh . The pass has an altitude of 5580 m . There are several firn fields south of the pass . In the north there is a short glacier crossing . The Takling La , 8.3 km northwest, is a slightly lower and less well-known trekking pass.
The pass is only passable from June to September. There is no possibility to add provisions during the tour. No people live on the entire route. Apart from the great height, the route is easy to walk on. The only problem worth mentioning can be the crossing of mountain streams when the water level is higher. Appropriate footwear (waterproof sandals) must therefore be taken with you.
