The Parc Merveilleux , often Märchenpark Bettemburg is an animal and leisure park in the town of Bettembourg in Canton Esch-sur-Alzette and the only zoo in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg .
history
The park opened on July 17, 1956. It has an area of around 25 hectares and is open every year from spring to autumn. The zoo includes around 200 species with around 3,600 animals from five continents. The other attractions are aimed in particular at children and families: in addition to rides such as carousels or a park railway for children, the main theme of the park is the fairytale world . Various fairy tale scenes are recreated in the park by moving figures and told in several languages. Numerous adventure playgrounds, some also with a fairy tale theme, as well as a mini golf course are also part of the park.
In 2017 a total of around 240,000 visitors were counted. 90% of the visitors came in equal parts from Luxembourg, France and Germany , the remaining 10% consisted of visitors from Belgium and the Netherlands .
