Parineeti Chopra ( hindi ; परिणीति चोपड़ा [pəriːniːt̪iː ˈtʃoːpɽaː]; born October 22, 1988 in Ambala , Haryana ) is an Indian actress who has starred in Bollywood films. She is a cousin of actress Priyanka Chopra .

Life

Her father, Pawan Chopra, is an entrepreneur and her mother is Reena Chopra. She has two brothers: Shivang and Saraj. At the age of 17, Parineeti Chopra moved to London to pursue a career in investment banking, but after earning a triple honorary degree in business, finance and economics from Manchester Business School , she made the decision to return to India in 2009. She has joined Yash Raj Films as a PR consultant. At first, Chopra didn't want to become an actress. Working closely with actors, she changed her mind and later she was signed to the production company as an actress.

Career

Chopra made her debut in 2011 with a supporting role in the romantic comedy Ladies vs Ricky Bahl, alongside Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma , which became a moderate box-office hit. However, her performance in the film as a rich spoiled girl has received critical acclaim. She won the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut and a nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

The next year she took on the female lead in Ishaqzaade , a romantic drama that has proven to be a critical and commercial hit. Chopra has been recognized for her performance in Shuddh Desi Romance and Karan Johars Hasee Toh Phasee . The film Kill Dil, in which she starred again with Ranveer Singh, failed to convince viewers and critics, the film flopped and Parineeti Chopra decided to take a break for the first time before signing for another film.
