Paris is a six-part French miniseries produced by Son et Lumière on behalf of Arte France . The miniseries accompanies several residents of Paris from all social classes, generations and skin colors within 24 hours and shows a varied and unadorned portrait of the metropolis and its people. The concept of the miniseries was inspired by the television documentary 24h Berlin - Ein Tag im Leben , which documents the lives of famous and anonymous Berliners over a period of 24 hours. The miniseries premiered on January 15, 2015 on the Franco-German TV channel Arte .

action

Paris, the city of lights, has many dark sides: from the palaces of the French Republic to the Pigalle entertainment district to the suburban settlements, a dark side of the French capital is revealed. Regardless of whether they are prime ministers, journalists, petty criminals, transvestites or employees of the RATP transport company, whether public or unknown people - the lives of all these people get out of hand in the course of a crazy day. This day is marked by encounters and separations, tragic entanglements and renewed hope.

characters

Alexia "Alexis" Penmarch

Alexia is transsexual and works as a night club singer in the Pigalle entertainment district. She spends the rest of the time in the hospital. Hormone treatment is supposed to ensure that Alexia also becomes a woman physically. Her mother Catherine cannot accept this decision. Alexia is in love with the married Attorney General Pierre. She also takes in the ailing teenager Clément. Little does she suspect, however, that the boy's father is the French Prime Minister.

Catherine "Cathy" Penmarch

Catherine is the chief driver in the bus depot of the Paris Transport Authority. She is a committed trade unionist and wears her uniform with pride. Catherine represents the interests of bus drivers with great commitment in the fight against the planned pension reform. All of her colleagues agree that with Catherine they not only have a driving force, but could even overthrow the Prime Minister with her! But Catherine is also fighting on other fronts. For one thing, her husband Yvon, who is also a bus driver, has just been fired. On the other hand, she has not yet cope with the fact that her eldest son Alexis ... or better said, her daughter Alexia, is undergoing a sex reassignment surgery.

Clement Ardent

Clément is the adopted son of the French Prime Minister and his wife. He is beaten up and terrorized by classmates for being the prime minister's son. Clément gets on his father's nerves. Because he's never at home and yet always somehow present. He can no longer bear the cramped existence in the Hôtel Matignon and the bodyguards who follow him at every turn. He also wants to look for his birth mother. So he decides to run away without further ado, which he manages. Clément is robbed and beaten up by two young people. Fortunately, Alexia comes to his aid and takes him home with her.
