The Parish bar is a 3 km long and 1.5 km wide mountain ridge in the East Antarctic Victoria Land . In the Olympus Range of the Transantarctic Mountains , it extends from the Parish Ledge in a northerly direction through the McKelvey Valley to the Isle of Range . In its appearance it resembles the Bonney bar in the Taylor Valley .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 2004 based on the name of the Parish Ledge. It is named after the American atmospheric researcher Thomas R. Parish from the University of Wyoming , who carried out studies on the katabatic winds in Antarctica between 1981 and 1997 as part of the United States Antarctic Program .
