The 1998 parliamentary elections in Latvia took place on October 3, 1998. It was the election of the 7th Saeima of the Republic of Latvia .
Electoral system
100 seats in the Latvian parliament were redefined. There was a five percent threshold . The election was based on proportional representation . The legislative period was four years.

Government formation
After a coalition of the Latvian Way Party with the nationalist For Fatherland and Freedom Party and the Center New Party , Vilis Krištopans became Prime Minister on November 26, 1998.
