Parliamentary elections in Kenya in 1992
The 1992 parliamentary elections were held in Kenya on December 29, 1992. The first multi-party elections since independence were overshadowed by allegations of electoral fraud and targeted ethnic violence in Rift Valley province . Human Rights Watch accused various prominent Kenyan politicians, including President Daniel Arap Moi and Deputy Prime Minister George Saitoti , of causing and organizing the violence. At the same time, a general presidential election took place in Kenya for the first time , until then the president of the country was determined by the Kenyan National Assembly . The turnout was 69.4%.
