Parque El Mirador was a football stadium in the Mexican city of Puebla , the capital of the state of the same name . It only existed for twelve years and served as the home ground for Puebla FC .

history

The stadium was built in 1944 after Puebla FC applied for membership in the Mexican Primera División . The opening ceremony took place on May 21, 1944 as part of a friendly game between the newly formed team from Puebla FC and the first division club CD Veracruz , which the well-established team from the port city clearly won 5-1.

When the Camoteros started the league round of the 1944/45 season three months later , they had already improved a lot and on August 20, 1944 they won their opening match against Club Atlas 5-2. The next two home games (4: 0 against Club América on September 3, 1944 and 2: 0 against Club León on October 8, 1944) were won before against Club Atlante (1: 2) on October 29, 1944. the first home defeat had to be accepted in a league game.

During the twelve years in which the Puebla FC used the Parque El Mirador (Eng. Park The Viewpoint due to its altitude) as a home ground, the club won the Mexican club cup twice (1945 and 1953). In addition, he reached the cup final again in 1952 (0: 2 against Atlante) and ended up in the final tables of the league a total of five times under the top four teams, with it even being runner-up in the opening season 1944/45.

The temporary end of the club came in 1956 due to two strokes of fate. On the one hand there were economic problems and on the other hand the stadium was badly damaged by fire. These events forced the club to withdraw from professional football and demolish the stadium.

When the club registered again in 1964 to take part in professional football, it was accepted into the second division and played its home games first at the Estadio Ignacio Zaragoza , before moving to the Estadio Cuauhtémoc in October 1968 , which is the venue for those in their own country discharged the 1970 World Cup had been built.
