The party sees itself as a representative of the poor, especially in the remote regions of East Timor. It requires the construction of roads, schools, health facilities and a supply of clean drinking water. The PLPA supports national unity, the Firaku and Kaladi reconciliation and the Timorese faith.

history
The PLPA is a spin-off from the Associação Social-Democrata de Timor ASDT and was founded on December 11, 2009. The party registration took place in 2010. The PLPA gives its membership as 1600 people, spread across all 13 districts of the country. According to the PLPA, ASDT members should also support the party.
In the 2012 parliamentary elections , the PLPA and the Partido Democrática Republica de Timor (PDRT) ran in a joint electoral list called Coligação PLPA / PDRT . However, the coalition failed with only 4,012 votes (0.85%) at the three percent hurdle. She achieved the best result in what was then the Bobonaro district with 2.61% of the vote.
The PLPA has been a member of the Bloku Unidade Popular (BUP) party alliance since July 30, 2015 . It is an electoral alliance of now three parties that failed in the parliamentary elections in 2012 due to the three percent hurdle and entered the parliamentary elections in 2017 with a joint list. In the elections on July 21, 2017, the BUP finally received 0.88% and failed to pass the four percent hurdle. Then the BUP joined the Fórum Demokrátiku Nasionál (FDN). The PLPA, however, separated from the alliance in 2018 before the early elections on May 12th to become part of the Movimentu Dezenvolvimentu Nasional (MDN). However, this was only able to achieve 4,494 votes (share: 0.7%) in the parliamentary elections and thus clearly failed because of the four percent hurdle.
