The Fórum Demokrátiku Nasionál FDN is an alliance of politically very different East Timorese parties that failed to pass the four percent hurdle in the 2017 parliamentary elections . The spokesman for the alliance is Hermenegildo Kupa Lopes , party leader of the PMD and vice-chairman of the BUP.

The alliance, founded in 2017, originally consisted of eight parties and a three-party alliance. In December 2017, five parties left and founded the Frenti Dezenvolvimentu Demokratiku (FDD) on December 11th , while others joined the FDN, so that in January 2018 six parties and the three-party alliance belong to the FDN. The last members of the FDN had a total of 25,214 votes in the 2017 election, which corresponds to a share of 3.6% of the votes.

In March 2018, the alliance finally fell apart. PSD, PST and PDC joined forces with the Centro Acção Social Democrata Timorense CASDT to form the Movimento Social Democrata MSD . APMT, MLPM, PLPA form the Movimentu Dezenvolvimentu Nasional MDN with the União Nacional Democrática de Resistência Timorense UNDERTIM . The remaining PDRT, PMD and PDP did not submit a registration to the Comissão Nacional de Eleições and are now campaigning for the election of the Aliança para Mudança e Progresso AMP .
