Pasi Johannes Saapunki (born February 24, 1968 in Kuusamo ) is a former Finnish Nordic combined athlete. He started for Finland at the Winter Olympics in 1988 and 1992 .

Career

Although he had never started in the Nordic Combined World Cup , he was nominated by the Suomen Olympic Committee for the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary . Together with Jouko Parviainen and Jukka Ylipulli , he finished seventh in the Olympic team competition for Finland. In the individual competition, he took 15th place and was the best Finn. After the Olympic Games, he made his first start in a World Cup on March 25, 1988. In Rovaniemi he finished 15th and collected his first World Cup points. At the end of the 1987/88 season he finished in 33rd place with 2 points in the overall standings.

In the 1989/90 season he achieved his best World Cup placement in Lahti at home . In the competition on March 2, 1990, he took eighth place. At the end of the season he also achieved his best result in the overall World Cup with 20th place. In 1991 he started together with Sami Kallunki and Jukka Ylipulli in the team competition of the Nordic World Ski Championships 1991 in Val di Fiemme . The trio came in sixth at the end of the competition. He was nominated by the Suomen Olympic Committee for the 1992 Winter Olympics . While he and the team that consisted of him, Jouko Parviainen and Jukka Ylipulli, again took seventh place, it was only enough for him in the individual competition for 20th place.
