Pasilaid ( Swedish Pasja ) is an Estonian Baltic Sea island of the Moonsund Group . It is located in the Hullo Bay ( Estonian Hullo laht, Swedish Hulloviken ) south of the fourth largest Estonian island Vormsi (German Worms , Swedish Ormsö ). The uninhabited island has an area of about 53 hectares and its highest point is 3.5 m above sea level. The distance to the Rumpo peninsula is about 1200 meters, the port of Sviby is three kilometers as the crow flies .

The area of the bay is designated as a protected area, the island no longer belongs to the "exclusion zone", but may not be entered from March to September. The bay and island are part of the Vormsi Protected Landscape Area (Vormsi maastikukaitseala). Pasilaid and its neighboring island Telmen (Swedish Tälmen) , 200 meters to the west, are located on the southern border of the protected area and are also the largest islands behind the Rumpo peninsula. The vegetation on Pasilaid is characterized by grassland, scrub and juniper . Six kilometers to the east is the larger island of Hobulaid (Swedish Hästholm ).

Administratively, the island belongs to the village of Rumpo (Rumpo küla) of the rural municipality of Vormsi (Vormsi vald).

According to the last count, there are 20-25 bird species with 100-130 breeding pairs on Pasilaid. The large double leaf belongs to the protected plant species and orchids . While hay was mowed extensively in the second half of the 20th century, the biodiversity of the island is now endangered by the rapid growth of juniper and pine trees in the area. Reeds spread in the bank zone .

The Estonian environmental authority Keskkonnaamet has drawn up a ten-year plan to rehabilitate the near-natural habitats in the years 2017 to 2026 and to preserve the open landscapes. The restoration of the coastal meadows (19 ha) is a top priority. The riparian zone and forest pastures (0.3 ha) should also be looked after. Dry grass with juniper makes up about 17 hectares. In order to achieve a sufficient grazing load, at least 200 sheep or 30 cattle are required for Pasilaid.
