Patrick L. MacLeod (born June 15, 1969 in Melfort , Saskatchewan ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player . During his career he played for the Minnesota North Stars , San Jose Sharks and Dallas Stars in the National Hockey League .
Career
MacLeod first played for two years from 1987 to 1989 in the Western Hockey League with the Kamloops Blazers . After a good last season, which was rewarded with the appointment to the West Second All-Star Team of the league, the Minnesota North Stars finally selected the offensive defender in the 1989 NHL Entry Draft in the fifth round in 87th position.
The North Stars signed the Canadian for the 1989/90 season, but initially used him in the International Hockey League with the Kalamazoo Wings , their farm team . During his two seasons with the Wings, he came to an NHL game for Minnesota before he was selected by the Sharks in the 1991 NHL Dispersal Draft , which served to split the players between the Minnesota North Stars and the newly formed San Jose Sharks . In the two years with the Sharks MacLeod came both in the IHL with the Kansas City Blades , with which he won the Turner Cup , the championship of the IHL in 1992, as well as for other missions in the NHL. There he could not earn a regular place in the squad. His time in San Jose was followed by two seasons with the Milwaukee Admirals in the IHL. In the summer of 1995 he signed as a free agent a contract with the Dallas Stars , the successor franchise to the Minnesota North Stars, for which he played two more NHL games.
After the unsuccessful year in Dallas, the defender moved to Europe in the summer of 1996, where he played for Färjestad BK in the Swedish Elitserien . In December of the same year, MacLeod returned to North America and played for the Cincinnati Cyclones in the IHL until his retirement in the summer of 2000 .
