Paths of Possession is an American melodic death metal band from Tampa , Florida that was founded in 1999 by Randy Butman, Jay Fossen and former Morbid Angel guitarist Richard Brunelle.
history
In 2000, the debut album Legacy appeared in Ashes on the record label Splattergod Records. Three years later, in the same label a split - EP with the originating also from Florida band Dark Faith. On this release, the singer George Fisher, known from his main band Cannibal Corpse, made his debut on Paths of Possession. The band then signed a record deal with Metal Blade Records and was completed by the entry of Jack Goodwin and Nick Goodyear. In this line-up, Paths of Possession recorded the albums Promises in Blood (2005) and The End of the Hour (2007) at Erik Rutan's Mana Recording Studios . The cover images recorded respectively, as with Legacy in Ashes , the Belgian artist Kris Verwimp .

style
The band describes their style of music as a "solid mix of traditional heavy metal with influences of melodic death metal" . Both the music and George Fisher's vocals were described as "more melodic" compared to Cannibal Corpse. The "super-catchy" guitars that "keep chasing themselves through the songs in a trumped manner" were highlighted. Individual songs were compared with the music of Obituary , Slayer and Amon Amarth .
