Patrice Pellat-Finet (born August 29, 1952 in Villard-de-Lans ) is a former French ski racer . He was one of the best French downhill skiers in the 1970s , took part in world championships and the Olympic Games three times, made it into the top ten six times in the World Cup and became Hahnenkamm winner in 1978 .

biography

At his first major event, the 1974 World Cup in St. Moritz , Pellat-Finet took 27th place in the downhill - making him the best of the French team. Almost a year later he won his first points in the World Cup with ninth place in the Hahnenkamm downhill run from Kitzbühel on January 18, 1975. On February 1 of the same year, he was again in the top with tenth place in the downhill and combination of Megève Place 10.

In the 1975/76 season , Pellat-Finet was among the top ten in two World Cup descents : He was eighth in Schladming and seventh in Morzine , with which he achieved his best overall placement in 19th place in the Downhill World Cup. At the 1976 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck , he was the only French who started in the downhill. He finished the race in 16th place.

After Pellat-Finet remained without World Cup points in the winter of 1976/1977, but had become French downhill champion , he reached fifth place in the downhill from Les Houches on February 11, 1978 . This was his best World Cup result and at the same time his last point win. In the previous month he had won the Hahnenkamm combination in Kitzbühel, which is not part of the World Cup, with only 36th place in the downhill and 22nd place in the slalom. At the 1978 World Cup in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , he finished as the best Frenchman in 27th place, just like four years earlier.
