Patricie Holečková (born December 21, 1950 in Martin , Czechoslovakia ) is a Czech aphorist .

Life

Patricie Holečková spent her childhood in the Slovak part of Czechoslovakia, studied after graduating from high school in the years 1969–1974 at the Art Academy in Krakow, Poland, and has lived in Zámrsk in East Bohemia since 1982 and in the Czech Republic since 1993 .

Publications and reception

In 1969 she received a prize in the Mladá fronta O zlatý olomoucký tvarůžek artist competition . Since 1976 aphorisms of her have been published in newspapers and magazines. Her first major publication appeared in 2004 in the anthology of the Czech aphorism "Nezabolí jazyk od dobrého slova" ("The tongue will not hurt from good words") and in the following year the Oftis publishing house published its first independent collection under the title "Aforismy" ("Aphorisms"). In the 2006 Epigram authors' competition on the occasion of Karel Havlíček Borovský's anniversary in Lipnice nad Sázavou , the international jury accepted her as one of the winners in the accompanying anthology. Her aphorism book “Bez zbytečných slov” (“Without superfluous words”) was self-published in 2012 as an e-book .

The international perception of her work is reflected in the translation of her aphorisms into several foreign languages, for example in the English blog of TIME Europe Magazine editor James Geary or their inclusion in the collections of the German-language aphorism archive and the Italian Aforisticamente .
