Patrick Hürlimann (born July 9, 1963 ) is a former Swiss curler and Olympic champion . He played for the Lausanne Olympic Curling Club in the position of skip .

Life

Hürlimann took part in three European championships and six times in world championships. He won three world championship medals. 1989 in Milwaukee silver, 1996 in Hamilton and 1999 in Saint John both bronze. He achieved his greatest success at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano : Together with Patrik Lörtscher , Daniel Müller , Diego Perren and Dominic Andres he won the gold medal.

After the 2002 World Cup, Hürlimann announced his retirement from top-class sport. He was then the Swiss national coach until 2006. At the World Cup 2008, he played in the team temporarily St Gallen bear on the position of the third , but came as a disappointing eleventh place out.

Hürlimann is a member of the Executive Council of the World Curling Federation and heads its marketing and communication committee. He developed the points system for determining the curling world rankings.
