Patrick Philipp Streiff (born July 8, 1955 in Birsfelden , Switzerland ) is Bishop of the Methodist Church of Central and Southern Europe, which includes the countries of Albania , Algeria , Bulgaria , France , Croatia , Macedonia , Montenegro , Austria , Poland , Switzerland, Includes Serbia , Slovakia , the Czech Republic , Tunisia and Hungary .

Life

Patrick Streiff completed his school education up to the Matura in Birsfelden and Muttenz . Then he took the path in the ecclesiastical service of the Evangelical Methodist Church. Theological studies took place from 1975 to 1979 at the Theological Seminary of the Evangelical Methodist Church in Reutlingen and from 1979 to 1983 at the University of Bern , where he received his doctorate in theology in 1983 .

In 1979 he married Heidi Albrecht (now Heidi Streiff), with whom he has four children.

In 1984 he was ordained an elder ( pastor ) of the United Methodist Church. His assignments as pastor took him to Lausanne - Vevey , Neuchâtel and Biel .

From 1988 to 2004 he was also director of studies at the Center Méthodiste de Formation Théologique in Lausanne and from 1992 to 2004 private lecturer in the history of modern Christianity .

In 2005 Patrick Streiff in Bern was elected Bishop of the United Methodist Church for four years and was consecrated on April 17th. He is the successor to Heinrich Bolleter . He took up his post on May 2, 2006; its area of ​​supervision covers 14 countries in Europe and North Africa.
