Patrizio Di Renzo

Patrizio Di Renzo (born May 6, 1971 in Zug ) is a Swiss photographer and director .

Life

At the age of 16, Di Renzo began training as an industrial photographer , which he successfully completed three years later. After completing his training, he traveled to Paris , where he worked as an assistant to Bruno Bisang for two years . A few years stay in Milan as a freelance photographer. At the beginning of the 1990s, Di Renzo left Italy and gained his first experience in the field of fashion photography . He works u. a. two years in Istanbul for fashion magazines such as Harper's Bazaar and Elle . In 2001 Di Renzo returned to Switzerland for a short time and worked as an advertising and fashion photographer. A few years later, the fashion designer Tsumori Chisato became aware of Di Renzo, who subsequently realized a worldwide campaign and the designer’s store concept. Di Renzo - who in the meantime had moved to New York / Los Angeles - also began work on his first illustrated book Portraits of Illusions at that time . The illustrated book tells short photographic stories that u. a. in Ireland, New York and the Seychelles. The images consciously move away from reality; Di Renzo's motto: Move away from Realism. The book will be published by Assouline Verlag in 2006 with a foreword by the photo critic Gabriel Bauret . During this time he works u. a. also with Devon Aoki , Chloë Sevigny , Natalia Vodianova , Dean & Dan ( Dsquared² ).

In 2005 Di Renzo returned to Switzerland and opened his studio in Baar.

In 2010 Di Renzo made his debut as a music video producer for the Italian singer Enzo Fertitta and directed his first video installation for Issey Miyake . Also in 2010 Di Renzo Mads Mikkelsen photographed for TUSH Magazine and worked a. a. with Rie Rasmussen and Iekeliene Stange .

In October 2010 Di Renzo's second photo book Merlin's Dream was published , in which he stages Merlin's dreams using flowers. The book was published by the Swiss publishing house Zauberkind with a foreword by Tsumori Chisato.

The distance to the real world is characteristic of Di Renzo's work. You can definitely understand him as a director who combines the magical with the sensual, the romantic with the lascivious, the naive with the erotic and thus creates a unique dream world.
