Paul Abert

Paul Abert (born March 16, 1879 in Ilfeld , † January 12, 1947 in Bad Harzburg ) was a German Protestant theologian and writer.

Life

Paul Abert was born in Ilfeld near Nordhausen . He studied theology and then took on a pastor's position in Elbingerode in the Harz region . In 1928 he moved to Lesum near Bremen as superintendent . There he was a pastor at the St. Martini Church . After his retirement on May 1, 1944, he moved to Bad Harzburg, where he died in 1947.

Abert was also active as a writer. He created the story Die Heimat unter dem Brocken from the Chronicles of Elbingerode , published in 1926 . This was used by Karl Petri as the basis for the stage play of the same name. This was followed in 1927 by the novel Count Bernhard und die Heilige and in 1929 by the story The Last Furrow . The latter is about a farmer who is thrown off course by the hardships of the Thirty Years War .
