Paul "SOAZ" Boyer (born January 9, 1994 in Bordeaux ) is a French e-sportsman and plays the League of Legends game professionally . He plays in the position of top laner and is currently under contract with Immortals .

Career

sOAZ began his career on the big stage as the top laner of the League of Legends team 'Against All Authority'. At the first League of Legends World Cup , his team finished second and lost to Fnatic in the final . In the following season sOAZ switched to Fnatic and played a few years here in Top Lane with iconic players such as xPeke, Yellowstar and Rekkles . With him, Fnatic became the series champion of the European League of Legends championship (then EU LCS, now LEC).

In 2015 sOAZ changed teams again and followed his former Fnatic colleague xPeke to his own team Origen . In spring 2015 sOAZ and Origen were still playing in the 'Challenger Series', the then second division in the European League of Legends. After only one split, they rose to the top division and challenged their old team Fnatic in the EU LCS. Origen finished second and qualified for the World Cup in Europe. In just one season, Origen managed to advance from the second division to the semi-finals of the world championship - an achievement that was outstanding for the European scene at the time and Origen won many fans.

After a disappointing 2016, sOAZ returned to Fnatic in 2017, but was defeated by G2 Esports in the title race this season . However, the trend reversal came in 2018: Fnatic won the first half of the season. In the playoffs of the spring split, however, sOAZ was canceled due to an injury and was replaced by Fnatic's second top laner, 'Bwipo'. This convinced with dominant first games directly in the playoffs. In the summer split of the 2018 season, both Bwipo and sOAZ were used on the top lane, but sometimes also on the bottom lane. In the playoff final of the summer split, which decided who would qualify as first in Europe for the World Cup, sOAZ was no longer a top laner, but took turns with Bwipo. In the final against the League of Legends team from FC Schalke 04 , Fnatic qualified for the 2018 World Cup in South Croatia.

There, Fnatic and sOAZ succeeded as the first team since the first season to advance to the finals of a world championship - the 2011 World Championship, which Fnatic won, is not seen by many as a serious title, as there were no Asian teams at the time. In the final of the world championship, Fnatic was clearly defeated by the Chinese team Invictus Gaming with 0: 3, sOAZ was only used in the third game.

In 2019, the EU LCS was rebranded and became the LEC . sOAZ switched to Misfits and was part of a star-studded squad, which, however, was well below expectations and could not even qualify for the playoffs. In December 2019 it was announced that sOAZ moved to Team Immortals in the USA, where he currently plays and is involved in the top half of the league.
