Paul Buschenhagen

Paul Buschenhagen (born September 14, 1904 in Berlin ; † October 18, 1993 there ) was a German track cyclist .

Paul Buschenhagen, known as “Buschi”, was a professional cyclist from 1926 to 1934. In those years, the heyday of the six-day races , he was one of the most popular six-day riders in Germany. He started with a total of 31, of which he won five: 1929 in Stuttgart , 1930 in Brussels , Breslau and Berlin with Piet van Kempen and in 1933 in Dortmund with Adolf Schön . When no more six-day races were held in Germany from 1934, he ended his sporting career.

Buschenhagen played himself in the 1931 feature film " Um ein Nasenlänge " about six-day races. In the late 1940s and early 1950s he was active as a sports director at six-day races in Berlin.

Trivia

During his time as a six-day racing driver, Buschenhagen had a particular weakness for fast and expensive cars. He owned a Bugatti , a Cadillac, a Packard and a Horch racing car , one after the other .
