The rose variety 'Paul Cézanne' (syn. 'JACdeli') is a yellow-pink-white striped shrub rose that was bred by Jackson and Perkins and launched by Georges Delbard in 1992. The origin of the rose variety is not known.

The bushy, upright rose 'Paul Cézanne' forms a compact shrub. The rose plant is about 60 cm to a maximum of 80 cm high and 50 to 60 cm wide. The mostly cluster-like arranged flowers are formed from 17 to 25 curved petals . They form a large, double, bowl-shaped to flat rose blossom. The 7 to 9 cm large flowers usually have a light yellow base color, which is traversed by lively, white, orange and pink, coral red and ocher yellow stripes and speckles. The flowers vary intensely in their drawing, in some flowers a light pink or coral red flower base color also dominates.

The rose variety has short, glossy, light green leaves. The rose variety 'Paul Cézanne' is characterized by a light, fruity scent of cinnamon and citrus fruits .

The strongly remounting hybrid tea is hardy ( USDA climate zone 6b to 9b). It blooms continuously from May to late autumn and is resistant to the well-known rose diseases .

The rose is suitable for planting low flower borders, cottage gardens and as a potted rose. The rose 'Paul Cézanne' is also used in floristry as a cut flower due to its unusual color.

The rose variety is found in numerous rosaries and gardens around the world, including the Carla Fineschi Foundation Rose Garden (Tuscany), the Les Chemins de la Rose Garden (Maine-et-Loire, France), the Newtown Park and Queensland State Rose Garden ( Queensland, Australia) and in the Hana Festa Memorial Park (Gifu, Japan).

Naming

The rose cultivation was named by George Delbard after the French post-impressionist painter Paul Cézanne . With the rose varieties 'Alfred Sisley' , 'Marc Chagall', 'Maurice Utrillo' , 'Camille Pissarro' , 'Edgar Degas' , ' Claude Monet ', ' Henri Matisse ' and ' Paul Gauguin ' it is one of the so-called French painter roses (Rose des Peintres) .
