The rose variety Maurice Utrillo (syn. 'DELstavo', 'Arista Panarose') is a red and white variegated , often-blooming shrub rose with a yellow center that was introduced by Delbard in 2003.

education

The bushy, upright rose 'Maurice Utrillo' forms a compact shrub. The rose plant is about 50 cm to a maximum of 120 cm high and 50 to 60 cm wide. The mostly single, only sporadically arranged tufts of flowers are formed from 17 to 25 curved petals . They form a large, loosely semi-double flower. The 7 to 9 cm large flowers have a red basic color, which is traversed by lively, white stripes that are increasingly yellow in the center. The flowers vary greatly in their drawing, in some flowers a yellow flower color also dominates. The rose variety has large, medium to dark green, robust leaves. The rose variety 'Maurice Utrillo' is characterized by a light, fruity scent of raspberries .

The strongly remounting hybrid tea is hardy ( USDA climate zone 6b to 9b). It blooms continuously from May to late autumn and is resistant to the well-known rose diseases .

The rose is suitable for planting low flower beds and cottage gardens . The 'Maurice Utrillo' rose variety is also used in floristry as a cut rose due to its unusual color.

The rose variety is shown in numerous rosariums and gardens around the world, including the Mornington Botanical Rose Garden (Australia), the Roseraie Littéraire in Talence and the Europa-Rosarium Sangerhausen .

In 2005, the rose variety was awarded a gold medal at the Rose Hills International Rose Trials.

Naming

The rose was named by Delbard in honor of the French painter Maurice Utrillo , the son of the painter Suzanne Valadon . With the rose varieties 'Alfred Sisley' , 'Marc Chagal', 'Henri Matisse' , 'Camille Pissarro' , 'Edgar Degas' , ' Claude Monet ', 'Paul Cézanne' and ' Paul Gauguin ' it is one of the so-called French painter roses (Roses des Peintres) .
