The bushy, upright rose 'Camille Pissarro' forms a compact shrub. The rose plant is about 80 cm to a maximum of 120 cm high and 50 to 60 cm wide. The cluster-like arranged flowers are formed from 17 to 25 petals that are slightly bent outwards . They form a large, loosely double flower. The flower colors of the rose variety range from a dark red to pink in all nuances , orange, yellow to white, showing in stripes and speckles. The rose variety has large, medium to dark green, glossy leaves. The rose variety 'Camille Pissarro' is characterized by a light, fruity scent of apples and old roses .

The strongly remounting floribunda rose is hardy ( USDA climate zone 6b to 9b). It blooms continuously from May to late autumn and is resistant to the well-known rose diseases . The rose is suitable for planting low flower borders, pots and cottage gardens . The rose 'Camille Pissarro', which is long-lasting in the vase, is also used in floristry as a cut rose.

In 1997, the rose variety was awarded the Lyon Grande Rose du Siècle title at the Lyon Rose Trials .

Naming

The rose was named by Delbard in honor of the French painter Camille Pissarro , one of the most important representatives of Impressionism. With the rose varieties 'Alfred Sisley' , 'Marc Chagall', 'Henri Matisse' , 'Maurice Utrillo' , 'Edgar Degas' , ' Claude Monet ', 'Paul Cézanne' and ' Paul Gauguin ' it is one of the so-called French painter roses (Rose des Peintres) . The name Rainbow Nation , which is common in some countries, is intended to remind of the peaceful coexistence of different cultures in the rainbow nation of South Africa .
