Ramadas (also: Ramada ) is a town in the department of Cochabamba in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

Ramadas is the eighth largest town in the canton of Tapacarí in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Tapacarí in the province of Tapacarí . The village is located at an altitude of 2647  m at the confluence of the Río Calliri in the Río Tapacarí .

Ramadas is located east of the Altiplano between the mountain ranges of the Serranía de Sicasica and the Cordillera Mazo Cruz , which in turn is part of the Bolivian Cordillera Oriental . The region is characterized by a typical daytime climate , in which the temperature differences during the day are more pronounced than the seasonal temperature differences.

The mean annual temperature of the region is 10 to 11 ° C (see climate diagram Arque ), the monthly mean temperatures fluctuate between 6 and 7 ° C in June / July and 13 ° C in November / December. The annual precipitation is around 600 mm and falls mainly from December to February with monthly precipitation of 100 to 140 mm, while in the winter months from May to September there is a dry season with monthly precipitation of less than 15 mm.

Ramadas is 59 kilometers southwest of Cochabamba by road and is from the capital of the department.

From Cochabamba, the Ruta 4 road runs over 37 kilometers past Quillacollo and Sipe Sipe to Parotani . At the end of Parotani, a dirt road branches off in a north-westerly direction from Ruta 4, follows the Río Tapacarí upstream and reaches Ramadas after 22 kilometers .

Due to the historically grown population distribution, the region has a high proportion of Quechua population, in the municipality of Tapacarí 75.5 percent of the population speak the Quechua language.

economy

The residents mainly operate subsistence farming with the cultivation of potatoes , ocas , beans and grain and sheep and goat breeding for their own needs, in addition they also supply food products in small quantities for the market in Quillacollo .
