List of rose varieties |
The Edgar Degas rose variety (syn. 'DELstrorange', 'Deltrisang') is an intensely light pink-dark pink striped, frequently blooming shrub rose with a yellow flower base, which Delbard introduced in 1997 in France and in 2002 in Germany . It was discovered in 1994 as a sport of the 'Henri Matisse' rose variety by Guy Delbard.
education
The bushy, upright rose 'Edgar Degas' forms a low, compact shrub. The rose plant becomes about 60 cm to 80 cm high. The flowers, which are usually single, only sporadically arranged like a cluster, are formed from 40 to 48 curved petals . They form a loosely double flower. The rose has semi-double, 6 to 8 cm large, vividly striped flowers and large, medium to dark green, robust leaves. The rose variety 'Edgar Degas' is characterized by a long-lasting, light scent of lemons and old roses .
The strongly remounting rose is hardy ( USDA climate zone 6b to 9b). It blooms continuously from May to late autumn and is resistant to the well-known rose diseases .
The rose is suitable for planting low flower beds and cottage gardens . The 'Edgar Degas' rose is also used as a cut rose in floristry . The rose tends to fade in the vase.
The rose variety is shown in numerous rosariums and gardens around the world, including the Roseraie littéraire in Talence and the Europa-Rosarium Sangerhausen .
Naming
The rose was named by Guy Delbard in honor of the French painter and sculptor Edgar Degas , one of the most important representatives of modernism . With the rose varieties 'Alfred Sisley' , 'Marc Chagall', 'Henri Matisse' , 'Camille Pissarro' , 'Maurice Utrillo' , ' Claude Monet ', 'Paul Cézanne' and ' Paul Gauguin ' it is one of the so-called French painter roses (Rose des Peintres) .
