Paul Dörflinger (born January 23, 1955 - † May 4, 1982 ) was a German football player .

Player career

Dörflinger first played for SV Weil before moving to the second division promoted SC Freiburg for the 1978/79 season. There he was supposed to replace the rising hero Wolfgang Schüler, who had switched to Karlsruher SC . Dörflinger also managed to do this by getting 20 hits in 37 missions and thus had a large share in keeping the Breisgauers up .

He then moved to MSV Duisburg in the Bundesliga for around DM 450,000 . There Dörflinger could not prevail and went to league competitor Hertha BSC after six months and four appearances . In his first game - a 3-0 home win over Fortuna Düsseldorf - as well as three game days later against Bayer 04 Leverkusen , he scored two goals. At the end of the season , however, it was not enough to keep the league, as Bayer 05 Uerdingen had the goal difference two goals better. After relegation, Uwe Klimaschefski became the new Hertha coach. Under him, Dörflinger only came to three missions due to injury, after which he returned to Freiburg shortly after the start of the season .

At SCF, he scored in his first appearance in a 4-1 win against Kickers Offenbach . At the end of the season he ended his career.

Paul Dörflinger died on May 4, 1982 at the age of 27 from colon cancer .
