Paul Dobrinski

Paul Dobrinski (born November 16, 1927 in Bückeburg ; † February 12, 2009 ) was a German physicist who worked for more than 30 years as a professor of physics at the University of Hanover .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1947, Dobrinski studied physics from 1948 and received his doctorate in 1955 at the University of Giessen (luminescence of NaCl-Ag). Just two years later he was appointed professor at the Hanover University of Applied Sciences. Dobrinski was actively involved in physics education beyond his teaching activities. From 1974 to 1992 he was a member of the board of the Physics Didactics Committee of the German Physical Society (DPG). In 1986 he founded the journal Junge Wissenschaft , in which young scientists up to the age of 23 years can publish research papers. In the same year he became a representative of the DPG at the European Physical Society in the field of physics education.

Together with the university professors Gunter Krakau (Regensburg) and Anselm Vogel (Munich), he has published the successful textbook “Physics for Engineers” since 1970.
