Paul Dombek , Polish: Paweł Dombek , (born August 15, 1865 in Beuthen , † October 11, 1925 in Kraków ) was editor, mayor, member of the Sejm and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Dombek attended school in Beuthen from 1871 to 1877 and the grammar school there until 1885. Then he was a mountain intern for 1¼ years, then a journalist and local editor for various papers. From January 1, 1896, he was editor of the "Katolik" and the daily newspapers published by the latter. From 1899 he was a partner in the "Katolik" Verlags-Ges. mb H. He was particularly active in the organization of miners and smelter workers. Accordingly, he dealt with social affairs as well as commercial and commercial matters.

He was a co-founder of the Parcelacyjnej company in Bytom and President of the People's Bank in Siemianowice. For 20 years he was chairman and honorary president of the Polish Association of Upper Silesian Traders in Bytom. He was involved in many lawsuits, some of them professional and some political, and was imprisoned for four weeks for refusing to testify.

From 1912 to 1918 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the constituency of Oppeln 5 Beuthen, Tarnowitz . In 1916 he moved to Leszno . As a member of the Polish People's Council, he was interned by the German authorities from May 28 to July 8, 1919. In 1919 he was appointed a member of the Sejm as a representative of Upper Silesia. In 1922 he was elected Second Mayor and in 1924 First Mayor of Leszno.
