Paul Fasching (born March 29, 1951 ) is an Austrian farmer and politician ( ÖVP ). From 2000 to 2004 he was a member of the Federal Council and from 1996 to 2000 and from 2007 to 2010 a member of the Burgenland Landtag .

Paul Fasching attended primary school in Oggau on Lake Neusiedl from 1957 to 1961 and then the secondary school in Rust until 1965 . He then graduated from the agricultural college in Eisenstadt from 1967 to 1969 and did military service in 1971 .

Fasching has been a vintner since 1969 and was appointed to the economic council in 2003. He runs the family business founded in 1925 with a vineyard area of ​​5 hectares, where he produces around 55 percent white wine and 45 percent red wine with a production volume of 36,000 liters.

politics

Paul Fasching has been a member of Oggau's municipal council since 1977 . He was a member of the Burgenland Landtag from June 27, 1996 to December 27, 2000 and then a member of the Federal Council from December 28, 2000 to May 26, 2004. After that, Fasching moved back to the Burgenland State Parliament, to which he was a member from May 27, 2004 to October 24, 2005. From February 1, 2007, Fasching represented the ÖVP again in the Burgenland Landtag, where he was in the XIX. Legislative period member of the Agriculture Committee and member of the Committee for European Integration and Cross-Border Cooperation. After the state elections in Burgenland in 2010 , Fasching left the state parliament on June 24, 2010.

In addition to his work as a member of parliament, Fasching was chairman of the social insurance institute for farmers in Burgenland, from 1983 councilor of the Burgenland Chamber of Agriculture and from 1990 chairman of Eisenstadt's district councilor.

Paul Fasching is married and has three daughters.
