Paul Franz Romanus

Paul Franz Romanus (also: Paulus Franciscus Romanus ; born January 24, 1641 in Leipzig ; † March 29, 1675 ibid) was a German legal scholar.

Life

The son of Leipzig law professor Franz Romanus (1600–1668) and his first wife Gertraud (born April 11, 1614 in Leipzig; † July 25, 1648 there, daughter of the Saxon tax collector Chilian Gräffe (also Gräfe) and his wife Catharina Scipio) , had received his basic education in his hometown. He completed his basic philosophical studies at the University of Jena . In 1658 he returned to Leipzig, where he took up legal studies with his father and Bartholomäus Leonhard Schwendendörffer (1631–1705). On February 7, 1661, he had a bachelor access to law school, became on 15 September 1662 for licentiate of Rights and doctorate on April 2, 1663 Doctor of rights.

After lecturing at the Leipzig University for a while, he became an assessor at the law faculty, in 1669 fifth professor with the title Verborum Significatione et de Regulis Juris , became professor of institutions in 1670 and was promoted to professor of pandects in 1671 . With this he became canon in Naumburg . Romanus was confirmed in the nobility by the emperor (Comes palat. Caes.) And was heir to Brausswig .

The university's Praepositus Magnus became rector of the alma mater in the winter semester of 1671 .

Paul Franz Romanus died on March 29, 1675 in Leipzig and was buried on April 2 in the Paulinerkirche in Leipzig .
