Paul Götz (* 1883 ; † 1962 ) was a German astronomer , known for discovering minor planets.
From 1903 to 1905 he was Max Wolf's assistant at the State Observatory in Heidelberg-Königstuhl ( Königstuhl Observatory) at Heidelberg University , where he received his doctorate in 1907 on "Investigations into the Andromeda Nebula". He named one of the asteroids he discovered in 1905 after his girlfriend. In 1909 he published a new edition of the sky atlas Tabulae caelestes by Richard Schurig (1820-1896), also known as "Schurig-Götz".
The asteroid (2278) Götz was named after him.
