(2278) Götz ( 1953 GE ; 1953 GR 1 ; 1976 GE 2 ; 1976 JG ) is an asteroid of the outer main belt that was found on April 7, 1953 by the German astronomer Karl Wilhelm Reinmuth at the State Observatory Heidelberg-Königstuhl on the Königstuhl near Heidelberg ( IAU code 024) was discovered.
designation
(2278) Götz was named after the German astronomer Paul Götz (1883–1962), the first assistant to the German astronomer Max Wolf (asteroids (827) Wolfiana and (1217) Maximiliana ) at the State Observatory in Heidelberg-Königstuhl from 1903 to 1905. Paul Götz discovered 20 asteroids during this time.
