He completed his training at the Rabbi - Preparandie in Höchberg near Würzburg and at the teachers' seminar in Cologne. However , he had to give up his position as Chasan, preacher and religion teacher in Sohrau in 1921 due to the political mood there. From 1923 he was senior teacher at the Jewish grammar school in Cologne and volunteer chasan, preacher and religion teacher in the Cochem district. He was also a committed member of the Center Party . On November 9, 1938, his library and the Cochem synagogue were devastated, he himself was arrested by the SS and taken to Dachau concentration camp .

His wife Rosa b. Gurfinkel (born February 17, 1891) and daughter Senta (born May 18, 1929 in Cochem) were no longer able to leave the country. In 1941 they were taken to Theresienstadt and then deported to Chelmno and murdered there. His then fifteen-year-old son Arko (born December 29, 1923 in Cochem) managed to leave Germany in August 1939.
