Paul Gottfried Christaller
Paul Gottfried Christaller (born August 21, 1860 in Basel ; † December 31, 1950 in Stuttgart ) was a professor at the Stuttgart School of Applied Arts .
Life
Intended for the evangelical missionary service, Christaller learned African languages. He then studied art in Germany and Italy. Some of his works of art are in Stuttgart, Winnenden and Cameroon . He was also a medalist.
On January 27, 1905, he founded Hellriegel, Junginger and Obermann, the first Esperanto group in Stuttgart, which was also the first in Württemberg and which had 22 members at the end of 1905. Christaller was its president until May 1933. He was the author of a German- Esperanto dictionary.
The sculptor Frida Christaller (1898–1991) was his daughter.
