Paul Haldan
Paul Haldan (born April 12, 1965 in Craiova ) is a Romanian- born Dutch table tennis player with his prime in the 1980s and 1990s. He took part in the 1992 Olympics.
Career
Paul Haldan was six times national Dutch champion in singles (1986-1990 and 1994) and twice in doubles (1987 with Henk van Spanje , 1988 with Ron van Spanje ). From 1988 to 1994 he took part in five world championships and four European championships , but never came close to medal ranks.
In 1992 he qualified for the individual competitions at the 1992 Olympic Games . Here he was first in qualifying group M by defeating José María Pales (Spain), Anton Suseno (Indonesia) and Mikael Appelgren (Sweden). In the main round, however, he was defeated by the Chinese Ma Wenge .
At the end of 1992 he was ranked 28th in the ITTF world rankings .
Activities in Germany
For several years Paul Haldan played in the 2nd German Bundesliga . In 1985 he moved from the Dutch club TTV Apeldoorn to FTG Frankfurt , with whom he became champion in the 2nd Bundesliga Southwest in 1986. After further stations at Sparvägens GoIF Stockholm (1989) and again at TTV Apeldoorn, he joined the second division club 1. FC Bayreuth in 1993 . In 1994 he was also champion in the 2nd Bundesliga South with his men's team. A year later he was signed by TTC Altena , which he helped win the championship in the 2nd Bundesliga North in 1996. In 1996 he went to Borussia Dortmund . Here, too, the team came first in the men's north 2nd division in 2004.
In 2006 Paul Haldan ended his career.
