Paul Karch

Paul Karch (* 1901 in Ruchheim ; † 1985 ) was a German entrepreneur and the first post-war president of 1. FC Kaiserslautern .

Life

In 1915 Karch was an infantryman in the reserve hospital in Engers . In 1925 Karch founded a carpenter's workshop which he ran with his wife Katharina Karch. The company still exists today as möbel karch in Kaiserslautern . From 1922 to 1927 Karch was the cashier of the Kolping Family -Zentral Kaiserslautern.

Karch was a player at SV Phönix Kaiserslautern and their first board member. In June 1929 Karch became second chairman of the merged FVK-Phönix Kaiserslautern, which went up in 1. FC Kaiserslautern. After the end of the Second World War, Karch made a significant contribution to the fact that 1. FC Kaiserslautern could be re-established under its old name on June 19, 1946.

From 1946 to 1949 he was president of the association. During his tenure, 1. FC Kaiserslautern was the strongest team in Oberliga Südwest . In addition to the Oberliga championship in 1947 and 1948 , FCK was also the French zone champion in these years. In 1948 , the team reached the final of the German championship for the first time, in which they were defeated 1: 2 against 1. FC Nuremberg . The following year the Red Devils were third in the German championship after a 2-1 win against Kickers Offenbach .

Karch was active in the Alte Herren until 1950 and became an honorary member in 1959. In 1965 Karch was again deputy chairman of the board and in 1966 chairman of the board of directors of 1. FC Kaiserslautern.

In 1946, Karch was second chairman of the newly founded CDU in Kaiserslautern behind Wilhelm Franke .

His brother Heinrich Karch was also active in the association until 1938.
