Paul Kohl (writer)

Paul Kohl (* 1937 in Cologne ) is a German writer and author of radio plays and radio features .

Life

The author Paul Kohl was born in Cologne in 1937 and did an apprenticeship as a bookseller after graduating from school . He then studied theater studies and German studies in Cologne and Vienna from 1961 to 1965 and was a dramaturge and director at various theaters .

Since 1965 he has produced numerous works, most of them for the radio . He wrote radio plays, features and children's plays and also made numerous translations.

For many years he has been interested in the time of the Third Reich and the war crimes of the Schutzstaffel and the Wehrmacht in the Soviet Union during the Second World War . In 1985 he went on a trip to the Soviet Union and researched the facts for his non-fiction book The War of the German Wehrmacht and the Police 1941–1944 with the help of survivors . Since he had difficulty finding a publisher, it was not published until ten years after the trip.

In 2001 his first novel Greetings from Minsk was published , for which he has done extensive research since 1985.

Paul worked as a translator and author in Brussels from 1965 to 1970 and has lived in Berlin since 1970.
