Paul Larysz

Paul Larysz (born July 26,  1972 in Poland ) is a German basketball coach .

career

Larysz came to Germany from Poland in 1986 . He studied educational science with a minor in sports science and from 1996 worked as a youth trainer at BC Johanneum Hamburg (BCJ). At the end of the 1990s and the beginning of the 2000s, he was managing director of the BCJ and the successor club BC Hamburg. After the Hamburg team withdrew to the regional league, Larysz took over as coach.

In 2005 Larysz became the coach of MTV Itzehoe and led the team in his first year to promotion from the second to the first regional league. In the 2011/12 season he was named the best coach in the Regionalliga Nord by the basketball information service eurobasket.com , after leading Itzehoe to the runner-up. In the 2013/14 season, the Steinburg team came second again in the Regionalliga Nord under Larysz's leadership, and as a result of the UBC Hannover taking over the right to participate, they were promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga ProB  . Larysz worked in Itzehoe in addition to his duties as a men's coach, also in the youth sector, made the leap into the junior basketball league (NBBL) with the U19 team in 2009 and then coached the team in their only NBBL season 2009/10. His term of office in Itzehoe ended in mid-March 2015.

In the 2015/16 and 2016/17 season, Larysz was the coach of the NBBL team of Piraten Hamburg, the Hamburg Towers' junior team . He worked as a trainer at the Elite School of Sports in Hamburg and as a selection trainer at the Hamburg Basketball Association and in addition to these tasks was head coach of the regional league team VfL Stade in the 2017/18 season. In summer 2020 he went to Eimsbütteler TV as a youth coach .

Private

His son Lennard  became a Bundesliga player.
