Paul Manteufel

Paul Manteufel (born July 11, 1879 in Myslowitz / Upper Silesia , † January 14, 1941 in Bad Harzburg ) was a German hygienist, bacteriologist and tropical doctor.

Live and act

After graduating from high school in Kattowitz in 1899 , he studied medicine at the University of Halle and was awarded a doctorate there in 1904. med. PhD . From 1904 to 1906 he worked as an assistant to Carl Fraenkel at the Hygiene Institute at the University of Halle, from 1906 to 1907 as an assistant to Ernst Bumm at the Charité University Women's Clinic in Berlin and from 1907 to 1909 as an unskilled worker under Paul Uhlenhuth in the bacteriological department of the Reich Health Office . From 1909 to 1919 he then worked as a military doctor in the protection force of German East Africa . From 1919 to 1927 he was employed as a councilor and senior councilor in the Reich Health Office and as head of the bacteriological department of the Serological Institute in Berlin-Dahlem . In 1924 he received the title of professor. In 1927 he was appointed associate professor for hygiene and bacteriology at the Medical Academy and as director of the Academic Hygiene Institute in Düsseldorf . In 1930/1931, 1932/1933 and 1934-1936 he was rector of this medical academy.

His final resting place is in the south-west cemetery Stahnsdorf .
