Paul McGuigan (Director)
Paul McGuigan (born September 19, 1963 in Bellshill , Scotland ) is a British film and television director.
Live and act
He made his debut as a director in 1998 with the literary film adaptation of The Acid House . Two years later he directed the gangster film Gangster No. 1 with Malcolm McDowell in the lead role. For this production, McGuigan was nominated for the Fassbinder Prize in 2001. In 2002 he made the television film Little Angels , followed by the period film The Reckoning . In 2004, the remake of the French film Love and Lies was made with Sehnsüchtig . It was here that he worked with actor Josh Hartnett for the first time . This collaboration was repeated two years later when McGuigan directed Lucky Number Slevin, his second gangster film. In 2009 he directed a science fiction film called Push , after which he turned back to television. For example, McGiugan was involved as a director on the television series Sherlock from 2010 to 2012 . He received a 2012 Prime Time Emmy Award nomination for A Scandal in Belgravia and a British Academy Television Award nomination for Sherlock, A Fall of Pink .
