Paul Reckendorfer

Paul Reckendorfer (born June 11, 1913 ; † before March 3, 1989 ) was an Austrian painter and restorer .

Life

Reckendorfer received his training at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and at the Graphic Teaching and Research Institute and originally worked as a theater painter. In 1947 he reconstructed the destroyed frescoes by Gregorio Guglielmi in the eastern part of the Great Gallery of Schönbrunn Palace , and after 1961 Guglielmi's ceiling fresco in the great ballroom of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, which was destroyed by a major fire . Reckendorfer the 1965-67 re-creation also created is of the war ceiling painting destroyed by Nicholas Loder in Erbdrostenhof in Münster thanks. His other work includes the restoration of the frescoes by Carlo Carlone in the Trinity Church in Stadl-Paura in Upper Austria .

Reckendorfer was chief restorer of the Austrian Federal Monuments Office and received the professional title of professor .

He was buried on March 3, 1989 in Vienna .
