Erbdrostenhof
The Erbdrostenhof is a baroque aristocratic palace in Münster , located at Salzstraße 38. It was built from 1753 to 1757 for the Münster Erbdrosten Adolf Heidenreich Freiherr Droste zu Vischering according to plans by Johann Conrad Schlaun . The three- wing building is remarkable for its highly representative design on a very cramped area. Johann Christoph Manskirch was involved in the sculptural design . The frescoes by Nikolaus Loder , destroyed in the Second World War, were reconstructed by Paul Reckendorfer in 1965–1967 .
The city of Münster and the Regional Association of Westphalia-Lippe (LWL) have leased the Erbdrostenhof until 2057. Today (2018) it houses LWL office space and a baroque ballroom.
Younger story
After it was destroyed by air raids on Münster during World War II , the building was restored from 1953 to 1970 according to old plans by the Westphalia-Lippe Regional Council. In particular, the reconstructed baroque ballroom is to be mentioned as an outstanding spatial creation. For many years the Erbdrostenhof housed the Westphalian Office for the Preservation of Monuments. After its move to the State House of Westphalia-Lippe, other cultural departments of the Regional Association of Westphalia-Lippe moved in: the LWL Museum Office for Westphalia, the Historical Commission, the Literature Commission for Westphalia and the Droste Research Center.
The consequences of Wilsberg and the Dead in the Lake , Death on Prescription and The Anabaptists of the television series Wilsberg from 1999 to 2007 show the facade of the Erbdrostenhof in several recordings. The 2003 film Blueprint with the Dülmen- born actress Franka Potente was also shot in the Erbdrostenhof, among others. In 2015, indoor and outdoor shots were recorded at Erbdrostenhof for the episode One Foot Seldom Comes alone from the Tatort television series . The Erbdrostenhof not only provided the backdrop for film productions, but was also used as an open-air cinema for screenings of the Wilsberg television series .
In December 2011, the LWL announced a renovation of the facade elements made of Billerbeck sandstone , the cost of which would amount to around 550,000 euros, for the summer of 2012. The renovation was carried out from the beginning of July 2012 to the end of October 2012. A good 800 square meters of sandstone on the facade facing Salzstrasse and a further 230 square meters on the front facing Ringoldsgasse were cleaned. Most recently, the facade had not been renovated for over 20 years. In addition, the more than 50 windows facing Salzstrasse and Ringoldsgasse, made from pitch pine in the 1950s , were refurbished. The renovation of the facade was funded by the German Foundation for Monument Protection with 250,000 euros from the earmarked inheritance of a childless doctor from the Münsterland . It is necessary to renovate the roof. The renovation of the rear facade is also pending.
Historical keyboard instruments
The LWL maintains a collection of exquisite historical keyboard instruments in the Erbdrostenhof as part of the cultural maintenance of the landscape. For example, on loan from Count von Landsberg-Velen, there is a three-horned , two-manual Ruckers -embalo from 1640, which is one of the most important historical keyboard instruments in the world. The instruments are brought to the attention of the interested public every year in the “Erbdrostenhof Concerts” organized in cooperation with the city of Münster.
