Paul Gerard Reinhart (born January 8, 1960 in Kitchener , Ontario ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who played for the Atlanta Flames , Calgary Flames and Vancouver Canucks in the National Hockey League from 1975 to 1990 .
Career
Paul Reinhart began his career as a hockey player in his hometown with the Kitchener Rangers , for which he was active from 1975 to 1979 in the Canadian junior league Ontario Hockey Association . The defender was originally drafted by Kitchener's league rival Peterborough Petes , but he refused to play for any OHA team other than the Rangers. As a result, a lawsuit broke out in the course of which he was sentenced to a ban of 30 OHA games. This was only lifted after the announcement of a transfer agreement between Kitchener and Peterborough. At the Kitchener Rangers, the left shooter was able to convince, so that he was selected in the first round of the NHL Entry Draft in 1979 as the twelfth player of the Atlanta Flames . For this he made his debut in the National Hockey League in the 1979/80 season . In his rookie year , the Canadian scored nine goals in 79 games and provided a further 38 assists.
When the Atlanta Flames franchise was relocated to Calgary , Canada in 1980 , Reinhart's transfer rights were also transferred to Atlanta's successor team, the Calgary Flames , for whom he was on the ice for a total of eight years until 1988. On September 6, 1988, together with Steve Bozek in exchange for a third-round vote for the NHL Entry Draft 1989 to the Vancouver Canucks , where he ended his career in 1990 at the age of 30. On the occasion of the Heroes of Hockey Game , which took place as part of the NHL All-Star Games , he laced his ice skates again in 2001.
