Paul Schaller (born January 4, 1913 in Ueberstorf ; † September 26, 1989 in Basel ) was a Swiss church musician , choir director and composer .
Life
After studying music in Munich , he was a church musician at the Marienkirche in Basel from 1938 to 1983 . From 1948 to 1958 he was president of the Association of Choral Conducting Northwestern Switzerland . He was also a lecturer in choir, vocal training and singing at the Basel Music Academy , head of the conservatory choir, and founder and head of the Basel vocal ensemble .
His extensive compositional work includes mainly vocal (sacred and secular) as well as individual instrumental works. The estate is in the archive of the choir of the Marienkirche in Basel.
